NPL Tasmania club Hobart Zebras thrashed Southern Championship outfit Metro 9-1 away at North Chigwell this morning.

Zebras fielded their first-choice selection to begin with and led 5-1 at half-time.

Their second-choice line-up consisting mainly of youngsters took the field for the second half and added four more goals.

Metro presented a little more of a threat in that second period and hit the woodwork at one point but were unable to add to their single goal.

Zebras’ Swedish import, Niklas Wenderyd, returned to his homeland for Christmas and is, apparently, not returning.

Their new Italian import made an appearance.

Goalkeeper James Wilson, who has come to Zebras from South Hobart, was unavailable today because of work commitments.

Meanwhile, Jack Turner has left NPL Tasmania champions South Hobart and moved to Olympia Warriors.

South Hobart lost 1-0 to Pascoe Vale in Melbourne recently.

Olympia Warriors apparently have three American imports, including a goalkeeper and a central defender.

More pre-season friendlies, including against visiting Melbourne clubs, are scheduled for several NPL Tasmania clubs next weekend and on subsequent weekends.

Northern Rangers goalkeeper Sam Whatman is reported to have signed for Brisbane Strikers of the NPL Queensland competition.

This is happening now. Not heard a peep out of the club or mamarcas. Are they unraveling or are they in fact the sleeping giant. Time will tell.

[quote name="Anon"]I made this statement last year about Olympia.
Heads down bum up work hard and be quiet about it and things may start to flow into place.

How do you expect to gain respect as this is the wrong way to go about it.
Glad to see FFT actually do something right for once.

Quoting Rumour Mill:
Niko Giant to make his grand return to Tas this season. Rumour has it one of the Italian clubs has his signature. Can anyone verify this one?! If so, huge move for the league and the club who's lured him. Must wonder, what's the salary like to draw him back?

Niko and Tyler to City

Has Olympia found a coach yet? or is Dale the Man!
I also see that Betfair are on board, no more gambling. I love to punt and I am glad it's not my club
