University looked as if they might avoid last place when they led South Hobart 1-0 early in the second half of this Women’s Super League game at Grove Road.

After a goalless opening half which saw few chances, Olivia Young put the Students ahead in the 52nd minute.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Eliane Fader equalised 5 minutes later when she was put through the middle and slotted the ball past the advancing goalkeeper Mikalha George.

South Hobart had the better of the second half and University were restricted to counter-attacks.

Neither side was able to get the decisive goal, however, condemning University to a play-off with Olympia Warriors for a place in next year’s Women’s Super League.

South Hobart look like finishing in fifth place on the standings.
