Glenorchy Knights easily beat University 5-0 in the Summer Cup Final played on a beautiful balmy evening at Grove Road.

The speed of Callum Brown was too much for the University defence and he opened the scoring after just 8 minutes and his twin brother, Declan Brown, made it 2-0 in the 25th minute.

This Knights side was missing key players - goalkeeper Dmitri Nester, defender George Hallard, striker Mathew Nowicki, and midfielders Hugh Foley and James Sherman - so one can only wonder what will happen when they finally field a full complement.

Siyar Kurdistan punished lax University defending just before the interval when he latched onto a misdirected clearance and hit a first-time bullet into the net from range to make it 3-0.

The Students rallied a bit after the break and had considerable possession, but they missed a couple of easy chances which might have got them back into the match, and they even squandered a penalty, which was saved by James Wilson.

Nick Naden added a fourth for the Knights shortly after the resumption, while Kurdistan completed his brace with 8 minutes to go.

Knights look like the team to beat in the league, especially if they can, for once, get their best line-up on the park.
