Clarence United utility Odaine Demar has joined league champions South Hobart for the 2018 season.

South Hobart coach and Denar fronted the media today to announce the signing.

Demar, who is from Jamaica but is a Canadian citizen, was Clarence’s major import last season, but injury restricted his appearances for the Eastern Shore side.

He played just 10 games for Clarence last season but always caught the eye with some excellent performances.

His goal from a free-kick against South Hobart was brilliant, and he agreed that this was what may have initially attracted South Hobart’s attention.

Morton, however, said it was Demar’s performance against South Hobart in a friendly that perked the club’s interest.

Demar has been employed by Banjo’s but is currently working on a strawberry farm in the country.

He can play at centre-back or centre-forward and is looking forward to lining up with the league champions.

He said his rehabilitation from injury was progressing well and he was confident of being fot for the start of the 2018 season.

He still had ambitions of representing Jamaica at international level and had been in touch with the country’s football officials.

Denar had played for Jamaica at under-20 level.

South Hobart have a vacancy for a visa player and Demar will fill it.

He is playing in tassie and wants to play for jamaica, please walter stop embarrassing tassie football and do not post there comments they are embarrassing themselves!! Not your fault but still. laughable !!

I think it is good that the comments of footballers are published without censorship on this site.

It is interesting knowing their goals.

I read that on here that Kosta Kannakiris, the former South Hobart player, was aiming to play pro football. I saw him recently playing for Victorian powerhouse, Heidelberg or Hume, in the late rounds of the National Premier League Cup.

Tasmanians Jeremy Walker, Josh Hope and Andy Brennan have all recently played A League football. Despite a few locals denigrating the local milieu, Tasmanian football is now on the national map.

Hopefully South can keep him healthy and brush him up a bit! Would love to see him get a crack at an A league club.
