Glenorchy Knights coach Franco Previdi and Launceston City coach Ben Brookfield are both painting their sides as the underdogs when they meet at KGV Park at 4pm tomorrow in the semi-finals of the Lakoseljac Cup.

Previdi said his side is in the second tier and City are in the top flight and he was not confident about his team’s chances.

Brookfield said Knights had money and former NPL players and this would count in their favour.

The crucial factor could well be that City’s goalkeeper, David Smith, has a broken hand and will not play.

Without him, City lost 5-0 to Hobart Zebras in the league last weekend and his absence could cost them this semi-final.

Previdi said he had a squad of 20 players and his biggest headache was who to leave out.

Knights are sure to have a large, vocal following and should make it to the final.

On Sunday at 2pm at KGV Park, Olympia Warriors take on Hobart Zebras in the other semi-final and the Warriors should get through.

They agreed to switch the game to Grove Road, which is the Zebras’ home ground, because coach Kenny Weston likes the wide open spaces more than the cramped conditions at Warrior Park.

Olympia signed a 19-year-old Englishman, James McCarthy, on Thursday and Weston said he may start the midfielder against Zebras.

He said he had him training at 8am the day after his arrival and would cast an eye over him at the team’s final training session before making a decision.

Zebras have everyone fit and acting coach David Smith has the team playing the ball more on the ground than previously.

These sides drew 1-1 in a disappointing league game the last time they met, but given that this is a cup match, the sparks should fly.

Might be a little too invested in his boys to be in the coaching box ?

It's funny people make comments about who is the coach, there is one coach and he has a number of people around him who drop different ideas that's s called a team when they share their thoughts. The bond that has been formed is fantastic ,come on knights, the other thing is called inthusiasum so wave your hands all you want

Re anon #9. I'm confused. In anything I said, how could it be construed that there are internal cracks at the Knights. You must know something I don't. All I was doing was making a comment about the game played on the day. I know nothing about the internals at the Knights. Do not use my innocent comments for your own nasty little issues.

Exactly #7. All the Championship teams may have beaten City tonight. Don't get too carried away. Knights. Will play a real team soon.
#6. I agree about the coach. It seemed they once the knights were 3-0 up all of a sudden there was another coach in the box waving his hands around and calling out to players. What was that all about ?

From this Knight's comment I can see the internal cracks appearing.

Franco should be pumping Knights up not saying their the under dog.
The beat the reigning cups holders last time out and after watching today's game I would be pumping them up even more. Most of the Championship teams would beat City on today's display. They are rubbish for NPL.

I was a bit confused who was actually coaching the Knights tonight? However Knights did dominate tonight.
