James Sherman, the Glenorchy Knights midfielder and assistant coach of the club’s Southern Championship title-winning side, is the 2017 winner of the Vic Tuting Medal.

Sherman polled 29 votes, a massive 10 points ahead of second-placed Brett Andrews of Beachside.

Third place went to Taroona’s Takayuki Mizuno, while University’s Tom Roach, a previous winner of the medal, and New Town Eagles’ Sam Leszczynski were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Glenorchy Knights’ striker Ethan Engels won the Southern Championship’s Golden Boot Award as top scorer with 28 goals.

Daniel Lapolla, coach of Beachside, was named the Southern Championship’s Coach-of-the-Year.

Georgie Carter, of South Hobart, was the best-and-fairest player in the Women’s Southern Championship.

Team-mate Isabelle Ferrier won the Golden Boot award, while South Hobart coach Craig Westwood was named as the coach of the year.

Ferrier came second in the best-and-fairest count, while Olympia Warriors’ Madison Chambers and Madoka Ishida were third and fifth, respectively, and Kingborough’s Lisa Jarman fourth.

In the Challenge League awards, Glenorchy Knights’ Callum Brown won both the best-and-fairest award and the Golden Boot.

Brown polled 21 votes, while South Hobart pair Pajari Sculthorpe and Jack Bowman came second and third, respectively.

Glenorchy Knights’ Corey Moore and Olympia Warriors’ Jacob Calvert were fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the Championship 1 competition, Beachside scooped the best-and-fairest awards for the men and women, Alvaro Gonzalez claiming the men’s award and Sarah Dutton the women’s award. Dutton just pipped Nina Daniels in the count.

Trent Knight of Beachside was the men’s Golden Boot winner with 22 goals, while Dutton’s 44 goals gave her the women’s award.

Ivan Jozeljic was named the Southern Referee of the Year, while Nathan Coad was the Young Referee of the Year.

He was one kick away from losing by 5 points!

It was actually 2 points Einstein, go back to your colouring in.

THE END MARGIN WAS 2 POINTS. THE LAST GAME WAS A DRAW. IF KNIGHTS HAD WON THEY WOULD HAVE EARNED TWO EXTRA POINTS AND BEACHSIDE ONE LESS. THAT MEANS KNIGHTS WOULD HAVE WON THE TITLE BY 5 POINTS WITH, AS YOU PUT IT, "ONE KICK"

NO NEED TO BE EINSTEIN TO WORK THAT OUT.

The only player that is playing in the current team that was there before the money is Jade Clay. FACT
Bellini, nester, di falco, Phillips,Foley boys, Nandan, Engle boys,Snowy,Page and the Kurdi twins all came to the club for the money.

THE FACT IS NOWICKI, BELLINI, THE FOLEYS AND DI FALCO ALL HAVE PLAYED FOR KNIGHTS PREVIOUSLY. A NUMBER OF THE PLAYERS YOU MENTION HAD FOR ONE REASON FOR ANOTHER NOT PLAYED IN 2015. I SUGGEST FOR MANY FRANCO AND COMRADERIE (MOST OF THESE PLAYERS KNOW EACH OTHER SOCIALLY) WAS A BIGGER REASON THAN MONEY. JUST BECAUSE THEY GET $150 WIN EACH DOESN'T MEAN THAT WHY THEY WENT THERE.

What planet are you from? they all came back to the club or to play because of the money simple. If you think it was because they are all mates then you have rocks in your head. They maybe mates but now they have enough money each week to party together.

#18 S. Croswell
I was asked a long time ago not to put my name to anything, I do regret it. Croswell would be a real name of course, not a little tongue in cheek, could have been Mr Corner..... I'll ask around and see if anyone knows an S. Croswell. I'll intro myself to you one day. I won't rise to the bait.

Lapolla was one kick away from the league with little resources !
And didn't have a couple of very talented assistant coaches helping call the shots.
Credit where credit is due

I can assure you that other players, including Jade, aren't there for the money. I know this for a fact. Playing for the jumper, not the cash. Think what you like - it means nothing if you aren't involved in the club and know the whole story. Some of these boys have been there way before any money was on the cards. Come back when you know exactly what is going on.

Yes, most definitely. They all really need the money! Lol
