A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Fair point but i agree with "#2 Anon" not much Brown, Ludford and Loric could have done. Though obviously not the centre- defense pairing we will see or stiker South scored early and were on top on Bentleigh for the first 20-25 its only after the 2nd goal their heads dropped

Missing players would not have made much difference.
Bentleigh greens would have had 1 or 2 player's missing as well.
The difference is in the class of youth players.
We are still behind the mainland clubs when it comes to youth development.
