The Australian team will play against Minotauros, Athina 90, Patras, Ikonio, Salamina, Doukas and Ermis Zografou.

They will also attend a European Champions League match between Olympiakos and Juventus in Athens.

The four Tasmanians were selected for their skills and attitude on the futsal court.

The best 20 players from each age group were selected to go on the trip.

“The tour helps to develop players’ skills to another level,” said Romeo Fradiani, Australian Futsal Association’s representative in Tasmania.

“It also helps them to adapt quickly to a team and a coach.

“It encourages them to be independent and responsible for their own actions on and off the court.

“They will, I am sure, represent our organisation with pride and respect and they’ll learn about different cultures.”

The players will train daily, and sometimes twice a day, and apart from playing against the above-mentioned opponents, they will also play against some local school teams.

The tour leader is George Poulos from New South Wales.

Queenslander Shaun Flanigan is the coach and Queenslander Jeanette Davis is the manager.

All three have been involved with the Australian Futsal Association for many years.

The teams return to Australia on 30 October 2014.
