Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Mal Gorrie is the new coach of Devonport City’s Victory League team and he will be assisted in the role by Bobby Eaves.

Gorrie replaces Nick Owen, who stood down for personal reasons at the end of the 2014 season after a year in the job.

Kenny Weston is the new men’s coach of Tasmania’s NTC program, while Michael Edwards has been reappointed as women’s NTC coach.

Weston is currently the Under-14 coach at English Premier League club, Burnley, and will take up his appointment in Tasmania on 10 November 2014.

Launceston City have parted company with their Victory League coach Kurt Reynolds after just 12 months.

Launceston City finished last in the inaugural Victory League competition in 2013 and, although they managed three wins in 2014, they still collected the wooden spoon.

Melbourne Victory produced the most impressive performance on the opening day of the 2014-15 A-League season, which is in its tenth season.

Melbourne Victory stunned Western Sydney Warriors by winning 4-1 at Etihad Stadium on Friday night before a crowd of 30,083.

Four Tasmanian youngsters leave for Greece on Monday to test their skills against leading Greek futsal teams.

Nick Drew and Wilson Brooks, from Hobart, and Zac Cross and Jarrad Linger, from Launceston, were selected for the trip after the recent Australian Futsal Association national championships in Victoria.

The Australian Futsal Associations conducted their National Schools Futsal Tournament in Bendigo and Ballarat last week.

Bendigo hosted the Under-12s, 13s, 14s and 15s, while the Under-16s played in Ballarat.

Eamonn Kelly has been appointed coach of the Olympia Warriors’ Southern Women’s Premier League side for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, with Sarah Fitzgerald as his assistant.

Kelly replaces the highly successful John Fiotakis, who was in charge of the women’s team for the past six seasons.

Central defender Jake Vandermey won the 2014 John Kalis Memorial Trophy as Olympia Warriors’ Victory League side’s best-and-fairest player at the club’s trophy presentation evening at the Hellenic Hall on Saturday night.

Vandermey also played for Tasmania against Melbourne Victory Youth at North Hobart Oval on Sunday, 28 September 2014.
