Second-placed Tilford Zebras and third-ranked Clarence United lost ground on leaders Olympia Warriors when they drew 1-1 at KGV Park today.

The Warriors squeezed home 2-1 against fourth-placed University at Warrior Park to move 18 points clear of Tilford Zebras and 19 points ahead of Clarence United.

In a hard-fought game, Eloise Wilson-Mayne gave Clarence the lead when she broke through down the right and beat Zebras keeper Paris Baker with a lofted effort inside the far left-hand post.

Zebras drew level when Zoe Nichols released Sarah Morris down the right and she beat keeper Amelia Vanderniet with a low drive inside the far post.

N Price and Roy

Both sides had the ascendancy for certain segments of the game, but the defences held firm.

Monique Undy and Lydia Toghill were strong at the back for Zebras, with team-mate Natalie Price resolute in midfield and creative in setting up attacks.

Sarah Morris found the going tough as Clarence United’s Louisa Marmion read the play to perfection and stifled many a Zebras attack.

Clarence lost Teegan Roy midway through the second half with an ankle injury that may require X-rays.
