A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Hobart’s African community will be conducting a two-day football tournament for the Australia Day long weekend.

Games will be played tomorrow and on Sunday (25 and 26 January 2014).

The Black Scorpions are organising the tournament for the community.

The tournament will be at Olinda Grove, Mt Nelson, the home of University SC.

There will be six teams participating.

They are Friends United, Hobart Tigers, Red Scorpions, Black Scorpions, Bhutan and University FC.

Games will be played from 9am to 6pm on both days.

The theme of the tournament is:  ‘Celebrating friendship and harmony’.


Devonport City beat Northern Rangers 7-3 in a Victory League pre-season friendly last night.

Devonport will host champions South Hobart tomorrow at Valley Road at 2pm in another pre-season hit-out.
