Colin Robbins has been appointed as Kingborough Lions United’s technical director for the 2013 season.

Robbins has been with the club for eight years, beginning as a junior coach and moving through the youth ranks.

This year, he coached the club’s under-16 team, as well as being the youth coordinator.

Robbins has been instrumental in developing the club’s Advanced Goalkeeper Program and is an accredited goalkeeping coach.

He has also demonstrated a very keen interest in the developmental pathways associated with junior to youth to seniors and his research and program development have been pivotal in the club’s new initiatives going forward in these areas.

Robbins is an accredited youth coach and will be attending the C Licence coaching course in November to attain the additional qualification.

Kingborough Lions United issued the following statement in regard to the appointment:

“The club is very happy to appoint Colin to this position.  His work over the last few years with players, coaches and committee makes him a very appropriate appointment for this position.

“Colin has an excellent understanding of the FFA curriculum and a real desire to take the club forward.  Colin will be working with Youth and Junior coaches in developing their coaching skills, a role he is already familiar with.

“He is also looking forward to working closely with our Senior Male and Female team coaches to assist them in their respective roles as required.  We see it as a great reward for Colin’s commitment to Kingborough Lions and a positive step forward for the club.”

Incidentally, applications for the previously advertised Kingborough Lions United coaching positions now close on Friday, 11 October 2013.  Any further expressions of interest can be made to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Tye coached Taroona to second place in this year’s Southern Premier League.

Jon Price will be Tilford Zebras’ new technical director of women's football at the club.

Yes, very surprised that Jon Price has taken up this role. Rumours abound that state FFA were fasttracking him to take the reigns of the state senior team.

Thought Pricey was coaching one of the regional boys sides. What happened there?

shame that Tye didn't test himself and put his hand up for the Boro senior gig.

Andy Tye has been convicted of treason, and will face his punishment next season when Roona win it all.

Please Zebras get someone to coach & develop the talented youth & not just train them, at that age they are still capable of development & improvement & they are the future of the club. I know it's important to look after the VL, but lets not be one eyed.
