A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

The coaches of the southern and northern women’s representative teams have been selected by Football Federation Tasmania’s new technical director, Spencer Prior.

Brent McKay is the southern coach and Michael Foote will coach the northern team.

In a break from tradition, the Tasmanian side to meet Melbourne Victory next Sunday will have two captains and a vice-captain.

South Hobart skipper Hugh Ludford and Northern Rangers’ Todd Hingston were today names as joint captains of Tasmania, while South Hobart goalkeeper Matthew Ferguson was named vice-captain.

Part of the Tasmanian Under-20 squad which will play Malaysian club Sarawak’s Under-20s early next month was announced today.

The Under-20s trained yesterday and today with the Tasmanian senior squad which will play Melbourne Victory next Sunday.

Somerset Sharks star Kaimon Johnson is the 2013 George Dale medallist, receiving 23 votes to be crowned Best-and-Fairest in the Forestry Tasmania Northern Premier League.

Champions Somerset added another feather to their cap with Johnson receiving the highest individual accolade to cap off a stellar season for Somerset.

Taroona forward David Abbott won the club’s Southern Premier League side’s best-and-fairest award at tonight’s trophy presentation dinner at the Henry Jones Art Hotel.

Toby Dove took out the Coach’s Award and Hugo Luttmer was the Players’ Player-of-the-Year.

Training was conducted at KGV Park today for the State senior squad and the State under-20 squad.

All 18 senior players were in attendance, while 16 members of the under-20s squad, which will be officially announced tomorrow at a media conference, trained separately.

The 18-man Tasmanian squad to face Melbourne Victory on 29 September 2013 was named today at a media conference held at Football Federation Tasmania headquarters at KGV Park in Glenorchy.

Twelve of the players are from Victory League champions South Hobart.

More than 120 coaches attended last weekend’s coaching conference in Glenorchy.

They included Football Federation Australia’s technical director, Han Berger, and the technical directors from all the States and Territories.
