The former White Eagles and Croatia-Glenorchy player Dennis Trueman passed away in Hobart on Tuesday.

He won the inaugural Tasmanian State League competition in 1978 while with White Eagles.

In 1982, he was a member of the Croatia-Glenorchy side that won the Michael The Tailor Summer Cup.

Trueman’s brother, Derek, played with him at Croatia-Glenorchy before moving to Kingborough.

Dennis was a real personality in the game when I arrived to play with Eagles. He was hard but fair. I was truly sad to read of his death. My sincere condolences go out to his family.

Thanks Walter, for honouring those who have gone before. Players of today cannot understand the contribution many have made to the game, without this. RIP Dennis.

Thanks to everyone for filling in the missing pieces. I coached Dennis at Croatia Glenorchy in 1982 but know little of his career other than that he also played for White Eagles.

I missed the following .

The last time I saw Dennis was at Princes st school when I was the Central Region visiting coach .

As I recall his daughter attended the school and played for one of their Central sides.

Probably 10 years ago

I shall stand corrected but Derek also had a short spell with South.
