Olympia Warriors suffered their second defeat of the Victory League season when they succumbed to an own-goal by Lachlan Nichols and went down 1-0 at home at Warrior Park to Northern Rangers on Saturday.

The goal came shortly before the break when Olympia defender Ben Phillips tried to clear a long throw-in by Gabriel Tams and the ball cannoned off Nichols, who was making his comeback after injury, and trickled over the line despite the despairing dive of goalkeeper Juan Cale.

Beachside will have midfielder Huw Jarvis back for their top-of-the-table Southern Premier League clash with Taroona at Sandown Park at 4.30pm tomorrow.

Beachside hold a 2-point lead over Taroona so this is definitely the match of the round and a Taroona win will see them take over at the top.

It is Devonport’s second ‘home’ game at an ‘away’ venue this season, the first having been the match against Tilford Zebras at Launceston’s Mitsubishi Park on the opening day of the league season.
