Who Is Walter Pless?


A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Olympia Warriors 1 (W Wadawu 75) drew with Kingborough Lions United 1 (D Pearce 41)

Northern Rangers 7-0 Launceston City

Beachside should maintain their 5-point lead at the top of the Southern Premier League standings by beating a depleted New Town Eagles away at Clare Street at 2.30pm tomorrow.

Eagles have been forced to make about six changes to the side that downed Kingborough Lions United 4-2 last weekend after trailing 2-0.

Tilford Zebras will have former Socceroos and AC Milan goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac between the posts when they take on Devonport City in a Victory League match at KGV Park at 2pm on Saturday.

Kalac has been brought to Tasmania for this one match and the presence of ‘Spider’ is sure to attract a good crowd to the Victory League double-header.

Zeljko Kalac arrived in Hobart today and trained with Tilford Zebras in preparation for Saturday’s Victory League match against Devonport City.

The game kicks off at KGV Park at 2pm and is the opening fixture of a double-header that also features the Victory League clash between Glenorchy Knights and South Hobart at 4pm.
