Southern Premier League leaders Beachside have signed Ben Whitehall from New Town Eagles and the winger has been included in their squad for Saturday’s match against sixth-placed South Hobart at Sandown Park at 4.30pm.

Aaron Brazendale and Taylor Nielson have also been included in what is a powerful Beachside outfit.

If fourth-placed Tilford Zebras do not beat leaders South Hobart at 2pm on Sunday at South Hobart Oval, the Victory League title is as good as South Hobart’s.

South Hobart could well be 7 points ahead of the pack by Sunday evening and they are unlikely to lose two, let alone three, games during the remainder of the league season.

There will be no A-League competitive match in Tasmania during the next season, the ninth of the competition.

There may be one of the usual pre-season friendlies, and Melbourne Victory are expected to spend a week in Tasmania, as they did last year.
