Who Is Walter Pless?


A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

South Hobart could find themselves 12 points clear at the top of the Victory League standings come Sunday evening.

South should overcome second-last Glenorchy Knights at South Hobart Oval at 2pm on Sunday, while second-placed Tilford Zebras may well draw away to third-ranked Devonport City at Valley Road at 2pm tomorrow.

Beachside should at least retain their 7-point lead at the top of the Southern Premier League ladder this weekend.

They are at home to bottom-side Glenorchy Knights at 4.30pm tomorrow at Sandown Park, while second-placed Taroona are away to sixth-ranked South Hobart at noon on Sunday at the South Hobart Oval.
