Who Is Walter Pless?


A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Tilford Zebras 2 (M Page 33, J Ladic 44) drew with South Hobart 2 (J Templin 15, K Kanakaris 58)

Second-placed Tilford Zebras can close the gap on Southern Premier League leaders Beachside to 6 points if they beat fourth-ranked NTC at 6pm at KGV Park today.

But, Beachside are likely to re-establish their current 9-point lead by overcoming seventh-placed Clarence United at 4.30pm at Wentworth Park tomorrow.

South Hobart should take another step towards securing the inaugural Victory League title when they meet second-placed Tilford Zebras at KGV Park at 8pm on Friday.

The honours are even in the league meetings between the sides, South Hobart having won the first encounter 2-1 and Zebras the second by 3-1.
