South Hobart beat Northern Rangers 3-1 in their Victory League pre-season friendly at the NTCA Ground in Launceston today.

It was the first time a match had been played at the new NTCA venue, at the back of the clubrooms.

Nick Morton chipped the goalkeeper to give South Hobart the lead.

Andy Brennan hits a screamer to make it 2-0 before Gabriel Tamms reduced the arrears for Rangers, sweeping home a cut-back from team-mate Josh Burke.

Chris Downes added South Hobart’s third with a thunderous free-kick.

In the youth practice match between the sides, South Hobart beat Northern Rangers 2-1, Chris Collins netting for Rangers and Chris Downes and Ryan Cook for South Hobart.

South Hobart coach Ken Morton praised the new facilities at the NTCA Ground and complimented Rangers for being such good hosts today.

The Zebras have a good young keeper in Rob Kay at the club there is no need for them to be contacting Mckenna.

Its time to give some of these young guys a go instead of recycling the same old names.

Having watched a few pre season games this year I think it will be closer than people are giving the competition credit. The problem a number of Southern Teams have is there number 1's.

The South are really dry of any decent keepers at the moment.

We have lost Pitchford, Peter, McKenna, Ortiz and Kruijver over the past 12 months.

It is a real Problem at the moment,And no decent young Keepers coming thru.Voss,Kay ,E.T.C have lots of work to do ,But lets hope there given a chance,Word is Zebras have been after Mr Mckenna big time excepted him to appear ,And play in Summer Cup Good move?

If they havent been after him... Why not?
