A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

The Australian Futsal Association national championships were held in Sydney from 7-10 January 2013.

The Tasmanian girls won two titles on offer.

Football Federation Tasmania is confident that KGV Park will be ready for the 2013 season, despite a hiccup in work because of the wiring for the floodlights.

Football will do its fair share to assist the victims of the Tasmanian bushfires when Melbourne Victory play Central Coast Mariners at Aurora Stadium in Launceston at 5.30pm on Saturday.

A significant portion of the proceeds has been pledged by Melbourne Victory and Football Federation Australia (FFA) towards the bushfire appeal, with $5 from every adult ticket, $3 from every concession and $1 from children’s tickets contributed.

FFT will also coordinate a collection process amongst the crowd.

Simon Strang, the 22-year-old Glenorchy Knights striker, is off to Melbourne on Wednesday.

Well-known Melbourne football identity Jimmy Armstrong will take Strang to South Melbourne and Moreland Zebras for trials.
