Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Romilton Amaral, 48, is the new senior coach at Southern Premier League club University.

Romilton hails from Belo Horizonte, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, and I spoke to him after University’s pre-season friendly against Olympia Warriors on Friday night.

Glenorchy Knights face a difficult encounter with Beachside at 4pm at South Hobart tomorrow in the preliminary round of the Milan Lakoseljac Memorial Trophy competition.

Knights are the holders of the trophy but the Victory League outfit face an early exit if they do not perform against a side that is in the Southern Premier League.

South Hobart’s 5-0 win over Kingborough Lions United yesterday was the final practice match for both sides before the start of the Summer Cup next weekend.

I asked both coaches how they felt about the game and the coming tournament.

Andy Brennan, the 19-year-old South Hobart striker, leaves Hobart for Melbourne tomorrow to join Victorian Premier League outfit Bentleigh Greens.

Bentleigh Greens were formed in 1986 by the Greek Cypriot community of Melbourne and they play at the 5,000 capacity Kingston Heath Soccer Complex in the Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham.

Kingborough won the Under-20 curtain-raiser 1-0 through a goal by former South Hobart youngster Sunsang Kang.
