A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

The 2013 Victory League squads for the eight participating clubs have been released today.

Each club had to name a 20-man senior squad.

The 2013 Summer Cup kicks off at Warrior Park tonight when Olympia Warriors host Glenorchy Knights in a Division A, Group A, match at 8pm.

The curtain-raiser at 6pm is the Division B match between the same two clubs.

The northern Steve Hudson Cup pre-season competition, hosted by Launceston United, kicks off its 33rd consecutive edition next Sunday, 17 February 2013, at Birch Avenue in Newstead.

The competition is named after the late Steve Hudson, a goalkeeper who was tragically fatally injured in a match in Launceston.

Tasmania’s Statewide football competition, the Victory League, will be part of Football Federation Australia’s National Premier Leagues.

Launched this week, FFA is confident that the National Premier Leagues (NPL) structure will lift standards and continue to grow the game across the country.

1.  South Hobart will be a formidable opponent in the inaugural Victory League season

The way in which South Hobart wore down and then comprehensively beat Kingborough Lions United (5-0) in a pre-season friendly was ominous for the rest of the pack.
