Who Is Walter Pless?


A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Malaysian club Sarawak will send their Under-20 squad to Tasmania in October for a series of four matches in a joint initiative between Football Federation Tasmania and 2013 Victory League champions South Hobart.

Sarawak’s senior squad visited Tasmania in 1997 and played four games here  -  two in Hobart, one in Launceston and one in Devonport.

Sean Collins has been president of Football Federation Tasmania for four years and before that he was a director of FFT for about eight months.

His playing career spanned three decades, from school and university in his native Ireland, and then to Tasmania, where he played for Devonport City, Caledonians, Juventus, Croatia-Glenorchy, White Eagles and University in the State League and down the ranks as far as Division Three.

Tickets for the Tasmania versus Melbourne Victory and the Melbourne Victory versus Western Sydney Wanderers double-header at Kingston’s Twin Ovals on Sunday, 29 September 2013, go on sale tomorrow.

“Tickets will be limited, so I recommend all football fans to get in quick or they may not get in at all.” Boulous said today at the official launch of the tickets.

The Socceroos goalkeeping coach, Tony Franken, conducted a goalkeeping clinic at KGV Park last night but, disappointingly, there were few takers.

Tasmanian football can be its own worst enemy when it comes to such opportunities.
