A teacher by profession, but is now in his 37th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

New Town Eagles 1 (S Lagu 66) lost to Taroona 9 (T Loftus 17, 46, 63, S James 22, D Abbot 56, F Kang 61, 89, H Luttmer 79, E Luttmer 82)

Taroona must beat New Town Eagles at 8pm at KGV Park today of they are to hold on to their slim hopes of pipping Beachside for the Southern Premier League title.

Beachside drew 2-2 with third-placed Tilford Zebras last night and are 9 points ahead of Taroona, who have two games in hand.

The death occurred in Hobart last week of Les Broadbent, a well-known identity on the Tasmanian football scene for many decades.

Les, who was 89, was the grandfather of NTC coach Mark Broadbent and was an avid Leeds United fan.

Tilford Zebras 2 (E Engels 38 pen, A McKeown 86) drew with Beachside 2 (B Whitehall 50, A Brazendale 85)

Beachside can move to within a point of clinching the Southern Premier League title if they beat third-placed Tilford Zebras at 8pm at KGV Park today.

Beachside currently lead second-placed Taroona by 8 points, but Taroona have a game in hand.  Taroona have four matches remaining and Beachside three.

South Hobart were presented with the inaugural Victory League trophy on Sunday after their 2-1 win over Olympia Warriors at South Hobart.

The title had been won the previous week, but the trophy presentation ceremony was delayed until South Hobart’s last home league game of the season.
