Tasmania has 18 players in each squad, including some guest players from Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory.

Some of the players held a final training session at KGV Park this evening, at the same time as a meeting of Southern club presidents got under way in the FFT headquarters building.

“We enjoy having a kick even though we’re old,” said Mark Gobbey.  “It’s open to anybody that wants to join us and they’re more than welcome.

“I think we’ve got participation from eight or nine Southern clubs down here that are part of the Army now.

“It’s good fun, but the 27 degree temperatures expected will test us.”

The Over-50s have a schedule of five games in six days and the Over-45s have six games in six days.

The finals will be played on Saturday week, so it could mean an extra game for both sides.

Another good day for the army . Girls won 2-0 . Over 45 lads won 4-1 , Mies 2 , daggy 1 and saad 1 and the over 50s were held to 0-0 in a very tough match . Totally out played their opponents in the 2nd half .

Injuries are at a minimum but the main one is Kim Barker . Sliced his knee yesterday on a rock on the ground and had 3 stitches internally and 4 externally . He still played 3/4 on today's game . It was also interesting to see that it only took one and a half games back for him to have a go at the ref .

Give it a break George.A lot of good decisions have been made by the board the V League and prop up leagues/clubs was always not going to please all. Your like that some of these former players should be running football is ridiculous as is Anon 2 initial comment. Its just like saying Mike Tyson should be running boxing or George Best should rise from the grave and be the head honcho running the English Premier League.

Thats what is happening now so whats the diference
