Kingborough Lions United became the fourth southern Victory League club to commence training for the 2013 season when they held a session at Lightwood Park No. 3 ground on Tuesday evening.

Steve Adkins was in charge, assisted by Kevan Wright.

The Lions’ Premier League coach Euan Rodgers was also present, as were Lions president Brian Dale and trainer Bernard Siggins.

The only new player was Sungsan Kang, who played for South Hobart reserves last season.

He joins his brother Felix Kang at the Lions.

Tom McDonald, who has had a horror run of injuries in the past two seasons, trained.

Lightwood Park is undergoing irrigation works conducted by the Kingborough Council and the main ground had sections dug up awaiting attention.

A new boundary fence has been installed at the southern end of the ground.

South Hobart, the only southern Victory League club yet to commence training, are expected to start on Thursday.

David Clarkson, one of Tasmania’s greatest football ‘exports’  -  he played for Brighton & Hove Albion in the UK, as well as in Hong Kong and was captain of South Melbourne in the National Soccer League in Australia  -  arrived in Hobart on Tuesday to conduct some clinics for South Hobart.

He will be accompanied by Dane Sharp, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter and a former professional player with SV Horn in Austria and in the Australian NSL.
