A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Kingborough Lions United will have the chance to win their first piece of silverware in the top flight for many a moon when they meet Tilford Zebras in the final of the Summer Cup at KGV Park at 6.30pm tomorrow.

The Lions last played in a final in 2000, when they lost 3-0 to Glenorchy Knights in the State-wide Cup final.

Dane Sharp has just completed a documentary on Abbas Saad, one of Asia’s most famous football stars.

Sharp, who is a former NSL footballer and now a singer and songwriter, has been a frequent visitor to Tasmania in the past couple of years, where he has assisted with coaching clinics.

Aaron Cairns, Clarence United’s new import, has spent the past five years playing college football in America.

The 24-year-old central midfielder played with Grayson College in Iowa.
