Who Is Walter Pless?


A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Steve Darby, the former Tasmanian director of coaching, is currently in China working on a reality TV football show.

He is working with Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, former Everton captain Ian Snodin, and the head of the Everton Academy, Ray Hall.

Football Federation Tasmania is in the process of selecting senior Tasmanian men’s and women’s teams to play a number of feature matches.

FFT are to be congratulated for this initiative, but I’m not so sure about the method of selection they have settled on.
