A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Launceston City, who are hosting the Mies Family Trophy competition this weekend at Mitsubishi Park in Launceston, got off to the perfect start tonight with a 2-1 win over Northern Rangers.

Tilford Zebras beat Glenorchy Knights 7-1 in a pre-season friendly at Prince of Wales Bay this evening.

Dwayne Walsh, Juma Barabara and Seth Otte were amongst the goalscorers for Zebras, who led 4-0 at the break.

Tilford Zebras’ new under-19 coach Ricky Self is flat out as he prepares for the club’s trip to Queensland this time next week.

“Training is going quite well, but it’s a hectic schedule at the moment trying to prepare for Queensland,” Self said.
