A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Derwent United are out of the Summer Cup competition and all their opponents have been awarded 3-0 wins.

The Group A match between Olympia Warriors and Metro, scheduled for Saturday, has now been brought forward to Friday night.

It looks very much as if Derwent United will forfeit their reserve and senior matches in the Summer Cup again this weekend.

They are due to play South Hobart at Warrior Park on Friday night.

Andy Tye is the new coach of League One club Taroona, having taken over this season from Gary Slicer, who has moved to University.
