A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Sydney FC remain last on the A-League standings, while Central Coast Mariners have a 2-point lead at the top over second-placed Adelaide United after the weekend’s games.

Sydney FC went down 2-1 away to the Newcastle Jets, while the highly-rated Adelaide United were walloped 6-1 by the Western Sydney Wanderers at Parramatta.

Premier Lara Giddings opened the Woodbridge Soccer Club’s new club house last Sunday.

Well-known cricketer and former Kingborough Lions United player Andrew Kerr was the architect involved in the project.

South Hobart stalwart and former player Alexander Mackie passed away in Hobart on Thursday aged 89 years.

Mackie served the South Hobart club in numerous roles over the years and was a guest at the club’s centenary dinner in 2010.

The 11th round of the Hyundai A-League last weekend had more than its fair share of drama and controversy.

Central Coast Mariners are on top with 26 points, one ahead of second-placed Adelaide United, with the third-ranked Melbourne Victory way behind on 17 points.

Beachside began training tonight for the 2013 Southern Premier League season.

New coach Nathan Robinson was in charge and there were about 20 players in attendance.

The State finals of the Australian Futsal Association competition were held today.

Beachside won the 13-year-old boys’ title, with Hyenas the runners-up.

Southern Premier League side Beachside commences training this coming Thursday (13 December) at 6pm at Sandown Park.

Training will be for the club’s senior and under-20 squads.
