A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Saturday was a disastrous day for New Town Eagles goalkeeper, Nathan Pitchford.

Eagles missed out on the Forestry Tasmania Southern Premier League title when they lost to Kingborough Lions United, and the 23-year-old Pitchford broke his hand and had to withdraw from the Tasmanian side to play Melbourne Victory.

The touring Melbourne Victory squad and officials were hosted by Glenorchy mayor Stuart Slade this evening at a civic reception.

The Tasmanian team was also present, as were officials from Football Federation Tasmania and sponsors of the visit.

Ange Postecoglu, the coach of Melbourne Victory, has said he will use all his available players against Tasmania at KGV Park tomorrow night.

That will include Victory’s marquee signing, the Argentine Marcos Flores, who previously played for Adelaide United but spent the past year in China.

Fifty Tasmanian coaches from all levels of the game attended a coaching demonstration run by Melbourne Victory coaching staff at KGV Park on Sunday evening.

Melbourne Victory’s senior coach, Ange Postecoglu, was there, as was former player and now team coach, Kevin Muscat.

The Tasmanian squad to play Melbourne Victory at 7pm at KGV Park on Tuesday trained at the match venue today.

Andy Brennan, Alex Leszczynski and Nathan Pitchford were in attendance but did not train.
