A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Second-placed Southern League One side Beachside may be able to edge a little bit closer to champions Derwent United this weekend by beating second-last Nelson Eastern Suburbs away at North Warrane at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Beachside are on the lookout for a new senior coach after Brett Pullen has decided to concentrate on the club’s junior sides next season.

New Town Eagles have the chance of atoning for their title loss last weekend by beating the visiting Devonport City at 2pm at Clare Street tomorrow in the State-wide top-four finals series.

Eagles will miss goalkeeper Nathan Pitchford, who has a broken hand, and he will be replaced by youngster Justin Graham.

Former Tasmanian Rocco Travierso is coming back to Tasmania from Queensland next month to conduct several goalkeeper coaching clinics.

Travierso played for Juventus and Dnipro on Hobart in the 1970s and later moved to Queensland.

The combined Tasmania, Capital and Northern Territory girls’ side drew 1-1 with South Australia/NTC at the NTC Challenge series in Canberra on Tuesday.

Seven Tasmanian girls are members of the combined team at the tournament.
