University stalwart Julian Proud has called it a day and announced his retirement at the age of 39 following the recent game against Tilford Zebras.

The Students lost 4-1 against the Zebras, which is probably not the sort of swansong Proud would have wanted.

The colours of Tasmania’s new Pelada strip, worn against Melbourne Victory last week, namely primrose and green, most closely resembles the strips worn by the State team decades ago against the likes of Chelsea and the English FA XI.

In recent years, Tasmania tended to wear green and gold colours, but the new strip honours tradition.
