A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

The Central Region Girls’ Under-12 team leaves for Newcastle in New South Wales next Tuesday for a series of matches against teams from the Northern NSW Football Federation.

The players will also watch a Newcastle Jets W-League side training session and attend the A-League game between Newcastle Jets and Brisbane Roar.

Tasmania’s Michael Edwards will coach the Melbourne Victory women’s side on Saturday against W-League leaders Canberra United.

The game will be televised on ABC at 3pm on Saturday.

Derwent Storm put their miserable opening game form behind them and beat Southern Youth 8-2 in Round 2 of the Vikings Futsal State Super League last weekend.

Corey Smith hit five goals for the Storm as they battered Southern Youth, whose goals came from Joshua Dingjan and Andrew Robb.
