A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Stephen Pitchford is the new coach of New Town Eagles for the remainder of the current Premier League season.

The 52-year-old is looking forward to arresting Eagles’ recent slump in form and I spoke to him about the challenge ahead.

The Westfield Matildas finished their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 with a powerful performance against world number 10 England at the Porsche Stadion in Wolfsburg today.

Two first half goals to Westfield Matildas vice captain Collette McCallum put the result out of reach of the England team with the Australian’s dominating for large portions of the match.

The Qantas Under 23’s have defeated Yemen 4-0 in the second leg of their London 2012 Olympic Games Asian Qualification matches held tonight at Ausgrid Stadium, Newcastle.

The result contributing to the Qantas Under 23’s winning 7-0 on aggregate over the two-legs and booking them into the third round of the qualification process for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
