A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

Ken Simpson, a former coach of Eastern Suburbs, has died in Toowoomba, Queensland, aged 82.

Eastern Suburbs, of course, eventually became the present-day Clarence.

The pre-season A-League match between Melbourne Victory and reigning champions Brisbane Roar at Launceston’s Aurora Stadium on Sunday, 11 September, has been confirmed.

The match will kick off at 2pm and be preceded and followed by two local games.

The South Hobart pitch was a mess for the recent game between South Hobart and Clarence United.

Despite the conditions, South Hobart won 7-0.

But, the KGV Park pitch, which was known simply as Grove Road, had its bad days, too.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) is disappointed to announce that they recently received correspondence from the German Bundesliga club, Borussia Mönchengladbach, advising that, even though a previous agreement had been made to release Mathew Leckie for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, they would no longer be releasing Mathew to travel to Colombia.
