On a damp, cold evening, the game smouldered for most of the first half, gradually came to life in the second, and exploded in stoppage time at the end with three goals in the 8 minutes of overtime. The extra time was warranted because there were four goals in the second half and quite a long delay as Clarence goalkeeper Michael Moschogianis received treatment. In the last seconds, after William Malovnek had scored Clarence’s winner in the 98th minute, the game was again delayed to allow for Olympia’s fly-in from Melbourne, Joshua Colosimo, to be stretchered off. He was carried into the club rooms and an ambulance was summoned. He appeared to have a rib injury and was reportedly having trouble breathing. There were few chances in the opening 40 minutes, apart from a half-hearted penalty appeal when Omar Shabaneh and Clarence defender Nathan Rees both went down while chasing a ball down the right-hand side of the box. Mr Kopra waved play on and both sides got on with it. Four minutes before the break, Olympia’s other fly-in from Melbourne, Jake Van Der Mey, headed the visitors in front after a one-two at a corner between Lee Mason and Colosimo, the latter crossing the ball into the box for his fellow Melburnian to nod past Moschogianis.
Photo: Olympia on the attack [PlessPix] It took Clarence until just past the hour-mark to equalise, Van Der Mey bringing down Ben Hamlett and conceding a penalty that was expertly converted by Kyu Jun Kim in the 62nd minute. In the 70th minute, Van Der Mey almost grabbed his second goal of the game, but his header from a free-kick from the right hit the right-hand post and rebounded into play. Olympia’s Jayden Hey hobbled off with 13 minutes remaining after a terrible tackle by Grant Malcolm, and Youssef Mohamad came on as his replacement. Malcolm was replaced shortly after by Joseph Stevens. Clarence coach Andrew Brown was sent from the technical area after what the referee termed inappropriate gestures and continually leaving his technical area. Olympia thought they had won the match in the 90th minute when Chris Kumpulainen made a marvellous slalom run down the inside-left channel and slipped the ball wide for Shabaneh to hammer home a superb left-foot shot into the far top corner of the net to make it 2-1 for the visitors. But, the game was far from over and Clarence continued to attack, especially through Kim and Jae Ho Lee down the left. In the 6th minute of stoppage time, Lee made it 2-2 with a fine low drive into the far right-hand corner of the net. Olympia probably still thought that a point was safe, but Clarence merely upped the tempo and refused to accept a draw. In the 98th minute, the ball was delivered towards the penalty spot and substitute William Malovnek got a touch to force the ball over the line for the winner, to the dismay of the Olympia defenders, one of whom, Colosimo, had been knocked out in the scramble for the cross.
Photo: Interested spectators from Glenorchy Knights (L-R), Brazilian import, Felipe, coach, Ahmad Abdaltam, and Brazilian youth coach at Knights, Romilton Amaral [PlessPix] Assistant referee Stratos Plomaritis had his flag raised for off-side, but after Mr Kopra ran over and consulted him, the goal was allowed to stand as the ball was adjudged to have come off the head of an Olympia defender rather than a Clarence attacker on its way to Malovnek. It took several minutes for Colosimo to be assessed and taken by stretcher from the field and, after that, there were only a few seconds to play after the restart before the final whistle. The win put Clarence level on points with second-placed Tilford Zebras, but an inferior goal-difference keeps Clarence in third place. New Town Eagles are now 5 points behind in fourth spot. Zebras are in action at 2.30pm on Sunday at KGV Park against fifth-placed Kingborough Lions United. __________________________________ Clarence United coach, Andrew Brown, said: “[It was] a typical derby game. It did swing to and fro and I thought the game was gone with the decision not to send Ven Der Mey off, when he’d given the penalty and yet he was the last man and he didn’t send him off. I thought we’d paid the ultimate sacrifice at 2-1. “I know the Olympia supporters, and in particular their president, got very happy and told me what he thought. “At the end of the day, karma is karma, and credit to our fantastic football club, our fantastic players. We were undefeated, winning all three grades today, under duress. “We are the true team on the Eastern Shore. We have been for a long time and shall remain so for a long time because we have the players that are from the Eastern Shore, that want to play for the Eastern Shore, that believe that the Eastern Shore is a great place to be, and I’m incredibly proud. “We’re coming right at the right end of the season, as we always do. “CUFC for ever.” Olympia Warriors coach, Franco Previdi, said: “Disappointed with the result, but I thought my boys played really well. “I thought we were the ones in third place on the ladder and that they were the ones who were second-last. “Overall, I think we deserved more the win, but I give them credit. Clarence had those chances and put them away, while we didn’t. “Disappointed not to have one penalty, for sure. But look, overall, I’m not complaining about Kopra [referee] at all. He did quite a good job. “It was a good game of football and I was certainly happy with my boys’ performance.”

You arent serious right? lol. He doesnt talk and never directs his team-mates.
Jae Ho Lee from Tranmere,
Kyu Jun Kim from Howrah,
Yeon Sun Jo from Warrane,
All local boys, I remember them playing in the Eastern Region Juniors.
I'm surprised you could see your team win from your view in the carpark, what a disgrace!
Bunch of whinges
Mr Browns view from behind the goals was perfect thanks for asking !!!
But lets talk about your presidents display and your coaches actions , not to mention your players parents on going one up !!! Discracefull is the word that springs to mind ...On another note
glad to see Mr Colossimo up and about after the game . No one likes to see any player hurt, by the way MR VOSS it was your son that not only nailed him but also lead to the winner :-)
How long are you going to play your mates?
The moment Nandan came on we looked good.
Phillips isnt up to it.
Voss? Where is Kay?
Please help me understand why we continue to recycle the same old crap with coaches.
I know that I'm not as proud of my own actions as I'd like to be.
Saying that, it was a great game of football played in some really cold and wet conditions. I would have liked to have seen the ref come down harder on the contact, but he applied his interpretations reasonably consistently so fair enough.
Really good to see Josh get up and walk out under his own power; I'm putting it down to the quality of the paramedics attending!

Mr Elliott. We're playing on the Eastern Shore becuase you kindly gave us your ground and we've done it up nicely. We don't profess to be exclusively Eastern Shore players as Brown does.
Both teams played an awesome game last night, pity it ended like it did for Olympia who probably deserved the win. Certainly enjoyed the the game though, but let's keep the rivalry on the pitch and not off it!!
You are a man who is all about himself..very sad individual! You are not even close to the Olympia Club and what George Mamacas has done for soccer on the Eastern Shore. Maybe when you grow up you THEN can do what "Mamacas" can for soccer in this state.
Try going to a football game in any decent league you will see passion from the stands and coaching staff 20 times worse. Great that both sides and supporters show passion!!!!!!!
lol
Last seen chatting up a couple of paramedics - sly dog. :0)
I suppose the Cup is all about the lesser teams making the final for some romance so good lucky Olympia on Sat.
Brown, along with others have seen this club become a top four side consistantly for the past few years. He is passionate about Clarence as is George for Olympia. The passion last night was great, yeah sure it gets over the top occasionally but as long as it stays on the pitch or during the game its all good.
Also lets clear something up. Olympia didnt build the facility at Warrane, GM and Co. did. dont confuse the two. If Brown had 20 million in the bank, Clarence would have built the same if not better.
ship ship beeeep
Agreed, his substitution was the difference for me.
Calm on the ball, hitting his targets, always in good positions to pick the ball up in central areas.
i wouldnt think any1 would care.nor make a difference
Josh apparently has a bruised rib but is going to be okay. Perhaps an Olympia official can let us know?
It's just that they aren't from the EASTERN SHORE you idiot!
Check the front page of your web site mate - biggest achievement for Clarence in 35 years. Relying on the Women this year! Olympia has three teams playing next weekend.
Word is Clarence played 16 players in U19s. Those points may be a bit dodgy at the minute.
For a Clarence person you seem to THINK you know what George Mamacas pays for and what he doesn't....shame you have no clue and clearly NO FACTS! Why are you people so obsessed with what GM does with his money..WOW...who cares!
Anyway what i didnt say that it was good to see young Colossimo up and about and to have a chat to him after the game and those olympia players and supporters that came into the clubrooms after the game .
Good luck for next week against south . I cant wait for the derby again next year .
The more the mud was churned up the worse it got, it was my minds image of what 3rd world countries would have to play on.
your allowed to use 16 players cobba
Which club owns it's ground outright ????? You're a joke .
Check your facts buddy.
Aaron Browning's only 17. Yes, they are the older side, but he's 2 years off 19. Clarence also have a fair few 18 year old's.
And those younger boy's wouldn't be playing if they weren't up to scratch and couldn't deal with it.
sorry, didnt mean that way.hope u recover in time
less supporters, are you joking?
five on the bench - you can use three.
"Under 19 Premier Interchange 4 voting slip required 45 mins"
11+4 = 15
1 17 year old hey?... ok good on you, I'm sure the original comment meant that Olympia had a lot more youth, such as, Phillips, Nandan and Hey all under 18 to this date. Also Cronk who has played all year and in the starting line up. And the two Melbourne players being only 19. Clearly a much younger team. Which is what the original comment was talking about.
Browning and Malovnek both of 17 years old. I'm not sure to what point you are attempting to make but post comments with accurate information.
Now Steffan, the next time it rains and Clarence City Council closes the old Clarence Tip, now called Wentworth Park, give Olympia a call and see if WE choose to keep our ground open. I hope that explains the situation in simple enough terms for you.
Similarly, when you're shopping around for school grounds for your preseason, please drive by Warrior Park to see how we're going.
Thanks for your best wishes for next week
Perhaps the Olympian team has too many young chaps because they caved in at the end, just remember YOU lost better luck next time!
kay was copping 5 in reserves
Thats ok josh, thanks for clearing that up. Im sure the south boys will stay away from that area knowing your injured. might want to be careful what you mention on a public blog site.
Will Malovnek is only 17 too.
i know for one i'd hit him early now i know his ribs are stuffed. if only i was playing.
Now ronald, back when the game wasn't soft, someone would give him a little love tap early on. I dont mind a bit of that.
troy, we've been over this before, Olympic don't own the ground, mcmacas does. oh but the council owns the land, which would mean Olympic own nothing...
a) A maximum of sixteen (16) players shall be named on the team sheet in any competition.
b) In Men’s Premier, Premier Reserves, Southern Women’s Premier League and Southern League 1, five (5) players: four (4) outfield and one (1) designated goalkeeper, may be named as substitutes. Any three players of the five may be used as substitutes.
c) In all other competitions, including Northern Women’s Premier League interchange of players will be permitted and Players named on the team sheet shall be deemed to have played.
you are an IDIOT
If Franco knew tom roach or andy brennan had dodgy ribs, he would definately be instructing his players to target that area in any challenge possible. As long as its a fair challenge within the laws of the game why not??
Its not dirty or "disgusting" its the game. Any coach would, and if they say they wouldnt, they would be lying.
baaoooooom!
Another clown Walter who does not like Olympia. GO THE MIGHTY WARRIORS!!
olympia taking over the run down warrane complex and turning it into one of the states best appears to be a touchy subject at cusc - could it be the green eyed monster
troy, we've been over this before, Olympic don't own the ground, mcmacas does. oh but the council owns the land, which would mean Olympic own nothing...
Quoting Anonymous:
If it is as you say ( its not ) then the man must be a saint for letting Olympia use his fantastic ground . Thanks George .
Who's ground are you borrowing dipshit ?
That's because your obviously a very weak and gutless individual who continues to stay anonymous. Weak as water mate.
