Launceston City have scored a major coup with the appointment of former Young Socceroos captain Kurt Reynolds as their coach for the next two years.

Reynolds last played for Launceston City in 1984 before making a name for himself with the Young Socceroos and in the NSL.

He has been working in the Middle East for the past seven years and holds Asian Football Confederation coaching licences.

Reynolds takes over from Peter Savill, himself a former Leeds United player.

A-League

Sydney FC 2-1 Brisbane Roar

Att: 8,456 (lowest home attendance in Sydney FC's history!)

Wellington Phoenix 6-0 Gold Coast United.

That’s what Clyde Palmer gets for his hubris before the start of the season.

It will be interesting to see what coach Miron Bleiberg says after this hiding from the New Zealanders.

It was the biggest win for a New Zealand side in an Australian competition.

So much for private jets for the team to take them to matches and so on. Football is a fascinating game because of its sheer unpredictability.
